I’m also very aware of how fortunate I am to have the ability to have this access because I could pay for it, but that amount could have gone to so many other things to help support my family.
I was met with kind and understanding health workers, however I don’t think I was fully prepared for the true nature of the pain of a medicinal abortion. The pain relief I received to take home with me was quite strong, and would normally work but in this instance it did not, however I still would have preferred to be able to complete it in the comfort of my home (which in this 2 step process that was able to happen).
I’ve completed my studies, worked hard to get myself my dream job and my children are more grown up and due to not having another child I am able mentally to be there for them to the best of my ability and afford things for them that I wouldn’t be able too with a 3rd child. To me, my children deserve a mother who can be present with them, and not overwhelmed all the time.
I do not regret my abortion, and I am thankful for it.

I will never forget sitting in that room, hearing his words but feeling like I was watching someone else's story and not mine.
